🏥 About the Role
Médecins Sans Frontières-Holland (MSF-Holland) is hiring a Medical Coordinator Support professional to help ensure the effective coordination, planning, and supervision of medical activities across multiple project sites in Ethiopia. This position plays a crucial role in strengthening health systems, implementing MSF protocols, and supporting frontline teams in delivering high-quality patient-centered care.
🧾 Key Responsibilities
🔹 Program & Coordination Support:

Assist the Medical Coordinator with delegated tasks and administrative support
-
Liaise with national and local health authorities to ensure program compliance
-
Monitor medical activities and project implementation through field visits
-
Translate health strategies into operational work plans
🔹 Medical Quality & Staff Support:
-
Ensure implementation of MSF medical standards, hygiene practices, and protocols
-
Support data collection, epidemiological analysis, and medical reporting
-
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to field medical teams
-
Coordinate medical briefings, staff recruitment, evaluations, and training sessions
🔹 Staff Health & Safety:
-
Implement staff health policy and monitor medical institutions used by MSF
-
Coordinate medical evacuations and referrals for national/international staff
-
Oversee vaccination schedules and monitor sick leaves with HR
🔹 Representation & Advocacy:
-
Represent MSF at national medical and public health forums as delegated
-
Engage in influencing health policy discussions and partnerships
-
Promote MSF innovations and research at national and international levels
🔹 Clinical Quality & Incident Reporting:

Lead implementation of patient-centered care (PCC) and quality improvement
-
Serve as focal point for medical incident reporting and audit follow-up

Facilitate cross-project learning and collaboration
📍 Areas of Travel
You will support MSF project locations across Amhara, Tigray, Gambella, and Somali regions.
🎓 Job Requirements
✅ Education:
-
Medical Doctor degree or related allied health qualification
-
Valid Ethiopian Professional License
✅ Experience:
-
Minimum of 2 years in clinical or public health practice
-
Emergency response experience strongly preferred
-
Prior exposure to tropical medicine or humanitarian work is an asset
✅ Language Skills:
-
Fluent in English (spoken and written)
-
Proficiency in Amharic required; Somali or Tigrinya is a plus
✅ Technical & Soft Skills:
-
Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, internet tools; Epi Info/FUCHIA is a plus
-
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills
-
Experience in supervision, training, and coaching medical teams
-
Sound knowledge of diseases like HIV, TB, Kala Azar, and Malaria

Familiarity with staff care and mental health support
