Job Summary
The Nutrition Officer will support and implement nutrition-related activities under the supervision of the Senior Nutrition Officer. Responsibilities include:

Conducting growth monitoring and nutrition screening

Managing and referring SAM and MAM cases
-
Supporting and strengthening OTP and SC services
-
Providing technical assistance to health workers and HEWs
-
Leading training sessions and awareness campaigns
-
Participating in nutrition coordination meetings
-
Developing and distributing IEC/BCC materials
This role requires close collaboration with local health authorities, the livelihood team, and the broader IRC health team. The position is based in Meiso Woreda, under IRC's Harar Field Office.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead GMP activities and malnutrition screening for under-5 children and pregnant/lactating women.

Support SAM and MAM case management in SC and OTP centers.
-
Monitor and ensure availability of supplies and services at nutrition sites.
-
Deliver and organize CMAM/IMAM training sessions.
-
Support food cooking demonstrations and IYCF counseling.
-
Produce weekly, monthly, and annual activity reports.
-
Collaborate with the woreda health office and local partners.
-
Support integration with the ERD sector for nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
-
Maintain safeguarding standards and ensure team engagement.
Educational & Experience Requirements
-
MSc/MPH, BSc, or Diploma in Public Health or Nursing.

Minimum work experience:
-
5 years for Diploma holders
-
2 years for BSc holders
-
1 year for MSc holders
-
-
Prior NGO experience in nutrition projects is an advantage.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting.
-
Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
-
Knowledge of local language and context preferred.
Certificates and Skills
-
TOT in IYCF-E, SBCC, CMAM, IMAM, AMIYCN or related is a plus.

Skills in data collection and analysis.

Ability to work under pressure in remote areas.
