🩺 Position Overview: EPI Officer
IRC Ethiopia is looking for a dedicated EPI Officer to support immunization programs and disease surveillance activities in Makue Woreda, Gambella Region. The role focuses on strengthening routine and outreach immunization services, coordinating with health offices and community actors, and enhancing community-based surveillance for vaccine-preventable and zoonotic diseases.
📌 Key Responsibilities
✅ Strengthen routine and outreach immunization services and support polio eradication activities.
✅ Coordinate and implement outreach sessions with local health offices and facilities.
✅ Address cold chain and logistical issues (e.g., refrigerators, motorbikes).
✅ Train and supervise Health Extension Workers (HEWs), Community Volunteers (CVs), and health staff.
✅ Lead community awareness and sensitization on immunization practices.
✅ Support surveillance for Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP), Measles, Neonatal Tetanus (NNT), and zoonotic diseases like Rabies and Anthrax.
✅ Facilitate data reporting, supervision visits, and joint monitoring with local health teams.
✅ Ensure timely submission of reports and program updates to IRC and relevant stakeholders.
✅ Promote safeguarding policies and ensure adherence to IRC’s core values.
🎓 Required Qualifications
✔ Diploma with 5 years of relevant experience OR
✔ Bachelor’s degree with 2 years OR
✔ Postgraduate degree with 1 year of experience in a related health field
💡 Preferred experience in:

EPI program management
-
PHEM (Public Health Emergency Management)
-
Community surveillance and outbreak response
-
Working with NGOs in Ethiopia
💡 Desired Skills

Strong planning and organizational abilities

Effective communication and stakeholder engagement

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Experience in community training and supervision

Knowledge of local languages is a plus
