🧕🏽 About the Project

SOS Sahel Ethiopia, in collaboration with Women Empowerment – Action (WE-Action) and with funding from UN OCHA, is launching a critical humanitarian project titled:
"Gender-Based Violence – Responding to Critical Gaps for Conflict-Affected Populations Project."

📅 Project Duration: June 1 – November 30, 2025
📌 Project Focus Areas: East and Horo Guduru Wollega Zones

The goal is to reduce the incidence and impact of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) on women, girls, and other vulnerable groups through integrated, survivor-centered prevention and response services.


👩‍💼 Position: Gender and Protection Officer

📌 Job Purpose:

To provide technical leadership in mainstreaming gender, protection, and disability inclusion across all humanitarian program activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build capacity of project staff, community structures, and co-partners on gender, protection, and safeguarding (adult & child).

  • Deliver training on gender equality, social inclusion, and GBV prevention.

  • Provide mentorship to protection assistants and local co-partners.

  • Integrate gender and disability themes into project tools, training content, and communication materials.

  • Conduct gender and protection analysis, safety audits, and community mapping.

  • Ensure all materials are accessible to vulnerable groups including IDPs.

  • Support the integration of protection and disability inclusion in field activities.


🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Health Officer, Social Psychology, Social Science, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant NGO or humanitarian experience.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication and report writing

    • Strong teamwork and time management

    • Fluency in English and Afaan Oromo (mandatory)


💰 Salary & Contract

  • Salary: As per SOS Sahel Ethiopia’s salary scale.

  • Contract Type: Fixed-term, full-time.

  • Duty Station: Nekemte Town
