The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is hiring a Senior Officer – Health to lead and support health initiatives in Ethiopia and Djibouti.

🩺 Key Responsibilities

1. Health Programme Management

  • Lead planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of health and wellbeing projects.

  • Provide input for health-related proposals, reports, and donor communications.

  • Ensure alignment with IFRC strategies, global standards, and national health priorities in Ethiopia and Djibouti.

2. Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM)

  • Support National Societies (NSs) in assessing risk and building response capacity.

  • Strengthen community-based surveillance and One Health systems.

  • Assist in cross-border outbreak preparedness and response coordination.

3. Risk Communication & Community Engagement (RCCE)

  • Develop RCCE strategies to tackle vaccine hesitancy and increase uptake.

  • Organize awareness campaigns and training for health workers and community representatives.

  • Monitor and respond to trends in vaccine demand and misinformation.

4. Capacity Building

  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to NS staff and volunteers.

  • Facilitate trainings, field visits, and institutional development workshops.

5. Stakeholder & Cross-Border Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Ministries of Health, NGOs, UN agencies, and other partners.

  • Strengthen disease surveillance and response in border regions.


🧠 Requirements

✅ Education:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, or related field.

✅ Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years in public health emergency management and community engagement.

  • Experience in risk communication, vaccine programming, and One Health approaches.

✅ Skills:

  • Strong leadership in health strategy, RCCE, and outbreak response.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.

  • Familiarity with data tools like Power BI is a plus.

✅ Language:

  • Fluency in English required.

  • French is an added advantage.
